Welcome To HOBO Pace
I set up HOBO Pace from the love of trail running. After many years of roaming the Nottinghamshire trails I began to exponentially grow more passionate about becoming a race director to share the beauty I enjoyed so much with other runners. I would very rarely see another runner out on the routes and I felt awareness needed raising of our local splendour.
My vision is always to make HOBO Pace accessible to anyone who wants to ‘have a go’ and I am always keen to grow the trail running community within our races. After taking over the Dukeries 30 & 40 I immediately developed the 10 mile events to become more inclusive to the beginner trail runner.
To further accommodate inclusiveness it was decided that all HOBO Pace events would be fully marked and marshalled to rule out self navigation beyond the common sense of following way marks. This has proven a popular choice with runners from all over the Midlands and beyond.
From the 10 to the 30 & 40 mile distances the ultimate for some has now been revealed in the presence of the Robin Hood 100. What’s been amazing to see is the 10 mile runners volunteering on the ultra’s to be inspired and at times to learn in the aspiration of running such distances themselves!
I guess that’s what I wanted HOBO Pace to be all about. An encouraging and positive running event company striving for excellence, open and welcome to anyone wanting to be a part of it.

Ronnie Staton Runner Coaching
As a coach, I provide you with a customised training programme, supported by proven coaching methods and sessions. Most importantly, it’s written from a perspective that is in line with your aspirations, background and life factors.
I have found the consistency of training, which comes from appropriate programming, far outweighs the details of specific key workouts. I strive to get all runners to the stage where consistency and quality work hand in hand to maximise results.
What is the biggest achievement for me? That all my runners enjoy their training and racing, and find it life enhancing as well.
In summary: I coach anyone who is willing to commit and give it his or her very best efforts. In my experience, runners benefit from my services when they have big goals and are willing to invest their time in order to achieve these.
HOBO Pace Feedback!
I wanted to say a big thank you for the awesome Dukeries 40.
I ran it with my husband and we both really enjoyed the course, and the enthusiastic volunteers!
It was our first ultra (having done marathons before) and it won't be our last!
You put on a great event all went went well and we'll be recommending it and maybe come back again next year!
You must have spent ages with the ribbons and pink dots - it all helped greatly although I almost missed one though lack of concentration (my fault)!
The personalised medals were a nice touch too.
I'm thinking about moving up to the 100 miles but will see how the summer's training goes!

Thank you for prompt results and a great morning, really enjoyed it.
Friendly and inclusive, I rarely compete due to work and life commitments.
Will definitely be looking for hobo paces again next winter when a little more time.
I like the look of the Waterway 30 event next March.
Thanks so much, never thought that at 55 I would "get into" racing!!
A gem of an ultra.
Travelling frequently for more than 90 miles to compete in trail marathons, what a dream I thought upon hearing that the inaugural Waterway 30 was to be held within the local area.
Whilst the trails at times sapped your strength the scenery and tranquillity more than made up for it.
From the stillness of the Chesterfield Canal to freshly ploughed fields on the Trent Valley Way.
I found comfort, whilst being fortunate, to be in such inspiring locations.
A great source of inspiration and a willingness to keep moving was provided by the ever enthusiastic volunteers on the check points
Just wanted to say thank you for such an amazing event on Saturday.
For my friend and I it was our first ultra event and what an amazing time we had and we have now decided that ultra running is for us.
We particularly enjoyed the fact that despite the amazing organization and support the event still remained quite low key.
The friendliness of marshalls, other runners and yourself was second to none.
We were amongst those that shed a tear when we crossed the finish line, very proud of our achievement.
Our aim is to return next year to tackle the 40 miles and we are very much looking forward to it already.
Many thanks again to your nan and to you for all your hard work and enthusiasm.
See you next year.

Just wanted to say thanks again for yesterday!
Fantastic event (I'll definitely recommend to others!) and despite being disappointed in not finishing, I thoroughly enjoyed the 50ish miles I knocked out on the course.
Volunteers and medics were first class too, extremely helpful and cheerful!
Hope to be there next time for another crack at it.
I just wanted to personally thank you for a fantastic event!
I decided to run with a few of the ladies from the running club at their pace.
I had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed my first ultra.
I am normally seen on road marathons so the Dukeries, was my first off road and ultra experience.
Caistor Running Club will highly recommend this race and I am sure you will see another large crowd of us again next year!
Thank you to you and your brilliant team/marshalls for putting on a thoroughly enjoyable event.
The course was even more beautiful than I expected and really well marked.
So much more enjoyable and less harsh on the body than pounding tarmac for 26.2 miles.
The food and drink stations were a real treat and new experience because not done an ultra before.
Thanks Ronnie, for a totally awesome ultra on Saturday.
It was my first ultra, and will always hold a special place in my heart because of it.
It was both incredibly hard and wonderfully amazing, and I can't wait to do my next one.
I'll also definitely be signing up to do the Dukeries ultra next year.

Just wanted to say 'thank you' for an amazing event on Sunday - I enjoyed it tremendously (although not so much at the time!)
Great atmosphere, meticulous organisation and attention to detail with a superdooper band of marshalls - what more could we ask for? ......... a couple of near-misses but even I didn’t get lost(and that is something I am really good at!)
So, well done you, and if these legs of mine don’t drop off, who knows I might give it a go next year.
Many thanks to you and everyone who helped out on the Dukeries event.
I entered the 30 hoping to break 7hrs 30mins and nearly broke 7hrs (failed by 3mins!!).
Everyone was so friendly and supportive: I'm a jogger and walker rather than a runner, but everyone helped me along.
I didn't enter the 40 as I was worried that I would not be able to beat the cut-off time; but I now know that I'll be entering the 40 next year!!
Once again many thanks for such a great day.
